You Are Still Becoming

There are moments when you look at yourself and see everything you have not yet become.

The person you wanted to be.

The wisdom you hoped to gain.

The peace you thought you would have found by now.

And perhaps, for a moment, you feel behind.

But what if you are not behind?

What if you are simply becoming?

A tree does not grow by rushing toward its final form. It grows through seasons—some full of life, others quiet and bare. Even when nothing seems to be happening, something may still be taking shape beneath the surface.

Perhaps your life is no different.

Every mistake can invite understanding. Every disappointment can reveal something about your expectations. Every difficult encounter can ask you to look more honestly at yourself.

You will not always understand why certain experiences enter your life. Some lessons become clear only when you look back. Others may remain unanswered.

But you do not need to understand every chapter to continue growing through it.

From the perspective of Purism, life is not merely about achieving a final version of yourself. It is about refining who you are—developing compassion, strengthening your character, caring for your inner world, and deepening your connection with the One Divine.

Your becoming is not measured only by what you achieve, but by the person you become along the way.

Perhaps the soul's journey, whatever its ultimate mystery, is not a race toward perfection. Perhaps it is a gradual movement toward greater awareness, wisdom, and love.

So be patient with yourself.

You can acknowledge your flaws without allowing them to define you. You can regret your past without remaining imprisoned by it. You can dream of a better future while learning to honor the person you are today.

You are allowed to be unfinished.

You are allowed to learn slowly.

You are allowed to begin again.

You are not required to have become everything you hope to be. You are only asked to keep becoming, one conscious choice at a time.

Reflection Questions

  • Where in your life do you feel that you should be further ahead?

  • What has a difficult experience taught you about yourself?

  • Who are you becoming through the choices you make today?

Practice

Take a quiet moment today and think about the person you were one year ago. Instead of focusing only on what remains unfinished, recognize one way you have grown.

Then ask yourself: What is one small choice I can make today that brings me closer to the person I hope to become?

Let that choice be enough for today.

Closing Thought

You are not a finished story waiting to be judged.

You are a journey still unfolding, a soul still seeking, and a life still filled with possibilities.

Be patient with the becoming. There is meaning in the journey, too.
