The Question That Never Leaves

There is a question that can follow you through every stage of life.

It may become quiet when you are busy, when your days are filled with responsibilities, ambitions, and distractions. But sometimes, in the silence of the night or during a moment when everything seems still, it returns.

Why am I here?

You may try to answer it through success, love, knowledge, or the experiences you gather along the way. And these things can bring genuine meaning to your life.

Yet something within you may continue searching.

Not because your life is empty, but because you sense that existence itself holds a mystery you have not fully understood.

Perhaps this question is not asking you to find a perfect explanation. Perhaps it is inviting you to look more deeply at the life you are already living.

What do you value? What kind of person are you becoming? What remains important when recognition fades and the things you possess no longer define you?

Within Purism, the search for meaning is connected to the soul's journey toward the One Divine—the ultimate source that may transcend the limits of human understanding.

We cannot claim to possess every answer. But we can approach the mystery with humility, allowing our questions to deepen our awareness, strengthen our compassion, and transform the way we live.

Perhaps the question that never leaves you is not there to disturb your peace.

Perhaps it is there to remind you not to sleepwalk through your existence.

Reflection Questions

  • When does the question of life's meaning return most strongly to me?

  • Am I living according to what I truly value, or simply following what is expected of me?

  • What could I change today to make my life more conscious, meaningful, and compassionate?

Practice

Take five minutes of silence today. Put aside your distractions and ask yourself:

If I stopped trying to prove myself to the world, what would still make my life meaningful?

Do not rush to answer. Let the question reveal what matters to you beneath your habits, ambitions, and fears.

Closing Thought

You may spend a lifetime searching for the meaning of existence without ever understanding its full mystery.

But perhaps a meaningful life does not require you to know everything.

Perhaps it asks you to keep seeking, keep growing, and keep becoming someone who lives with greater awareness of the mystery you are part of.
